Members Meeting Minutes
July 21, 2007
Called to order at 1:05 pm by President Dick Kapash.
Attendees:
Board members: Dick Kapash, Bob Bell, David Shaw, Dave Oxford, Robert Southard, Chuck Chamberlain, Dennis Furby.
Attendees introduced themselves. OMA residents were joined by residents of the Dillon Beach Village area as invited guests.
Dennis Furby, OMA Vice President:
Dennis explained that Steve Kinsey apologized for not being able to make it to our meeting but asked that questions be forwarded to him. Two concerns regarding high speed internet access and large RV traffic on Dillon Beach Road affecting emergency evacuation were noted. Also, an up-coming Community meeting with Steve in Point Reyes Station on Nov. 11th regarding high speed internet access was announced.
Robert Clark, North Marin Water District:
Robert introduced himself and gave a brief explanation of what they do in our community. He also gave updates on some of the projects that they have completed.
Future projects include Inspection for intrusion of rain water into the system and repairs for this. Notices will be sent out to notify members when these repairs are taking place and what they can do to help.
The loan for the distinct has been repaid and there should be no increase in fees through the year 2012.
John Brezina, Estero Mutual Water District:
Explained who he was and what he does for us in our community giving details of how much water we are using and were it comes from.
No representative, California Water Service/Domingues Water Company.
Carin Gately, West Marin Senior Services:
Gave a detailed explanation of the services provided by the organization and their volunteers. She also asked that anyone who might be interested to help, please contact them.
Captain Rick Wonnaburger Tomales Fire Station:
Discussed defendable space, the area around you house that needs to be cleared to defend your home from fire. 100 feet around your house should be cut and maintained. Also trees should be no closer than 10 feet apart. If you have questions about defendable area you can contact the Fire House at 878-2464.
Captain Rick also talked about Disaster preparedness including escape routes and some of the things we can do to be ready in case of a disaster.
Bob Bell OMA Treasurer:
The review of the Fiscal Report and budget include no new dues increases.
Chuck Chamberlain OMA Design Review:
Reported no new construction was scheduled but that there were projects of remodels and minor external changes.
Dennis Furby OMA Vice President Roads and Drainage:
There is no major road repair required at this time and only 2 minor repairs required. 1 will be completed by an owner.
Dick Kapash OMA President Tree removal:
It has been determined that some trees in the open area of the OMA and on Parcel K are causing a fire hazard because of their condition. These trees require trimming and removal. That work has been contracted to an outside company by the Board. The costs will be shared with the owners of Parcel K.
Pam Welling Community Relations:
Pam discussed Emergency Preparedness and how we could come together as a community.
Steve Smilanick Response plan:
Steve explained some ideas on disaster preparedness plans and his experience with plans in other communities.
Meeting Adjourned at 3:00 pm
Refreshments followed the meeting. Wine and food platters provided by OMA and desserts provided by St Anthony's Monastery.
